Who We Are

Project +232 is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to improving access to healthcare and essential services in Sierra Leone and the Washington Metropolitan Area. Founded in 2022 by Rashida Kamara, BSN, RN and Nadia Bangura, MS, PA-C our work began in 2019 with a simple but powerful act—a local medical supply drive that supported a clinic in Freetown. Since then, our efforts have grown from one suitcase of supplies to a movement rooted in compassion, cultural connection, and community-powered change.

Our name, +232, reflects Sierra Leone’s country code and symbolizes our unwavering dedication to the well-being of its people. Our logo is an emblem mark featuring the symbol of "Caring Hands Offering a Diamond."
The shining diamond represents the initiative’s mission to provide high-quality care for all. It also reflects the identity of Sierra Leone—a country abundant in natural resources, particularly diamonds.
Today, our diverse team of professionals and volunteers continues to expand our reach and impact through grassroots initiatives, health education, and strategic partnerships that bridge local and global communities.

What We Do

At Project +232, we are driven by the mission to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and equitable—especially for marginalized populations in Sierra Leone and underserved communities in the Washington Metropolitan Area. We take a holistic approach that includes:

  • Community Health Outreach Clinics: Providing free screenings, health education, and essential services directly to communities in need

  • Maternal and Child Health: Offering education and resources to support healthy pregnancies, safe childbirth, and infant care

  • Public Health Education: Leading culturally responsive programs focused on chronic disease prevention, sexual health, hygiene, and nutrition

  • Medical and Humanitarian Supply Drives: Coordinating the donation and distribution of critical health and hygiene items to underserved areas

  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborating with local healthcare providers, government agencies, and community leaders to expand our reach and sustainability

Every initiative is a step toward our vision of a healthier, more equitable future. Project +232 is more than an organization—it’s a growing movement fueled by compassion, powered by community, and focused on lasting transformation.

Our Impact by Numbers

ABOUT US >

Project +232 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing health equity and improving quality of life in underserved communities, with a special focus on Sierra Leone and its diaspora. Founded in 2022, we have recently expanded our reach into the Washington Metropolitan area (Washington Dc, Maryland and Virginia) to serve local communities facing similar health disparities. Our mission is to bridge critical gaps in access to care through community-based programs that address heart health, oral care, maternal and child health, nutrition, safe sex education, and essential needs. We believe lasting change begins at the grassroots level—empowering individuals with knowledge, resources, and support to take charge of their health and future. Through education, outreach, and collaborative partnerships, Project +232 is building stronger, healthier communities—one initiative at a time.
